The Companion - Eri Silk Patchwork Blanket #2

We call this patchwork blanket "The Companion" as we imagine how a newborn receives it, a child plays on it, a teenager curls up in it, and years later it hangs on the wall or lies across a bed. Throughout all those stages, it remains a companion. It is a unique creation of our dyers and weavers in Assam and our tailor Ashiq in Ladakh. Using fabric remnants from our garment production, blanket is beautifully crafted into a new texile, honoring the precious Eri silk. The blanket is stitched in our studio in Ladakh. 
 

• front: 100% naturally dyed eri silk from Assam
• back and inside: 100% kala cotton from Gujarat
• 80cm x 110cm 
• farming: 45 days 
• spinning: 2 days
• dyeing: 1 day
• weaving: 2 days 
• stitching: 2 days

Please note: This product is entirely made by hand. Therefore, irregularities in thickness of yarn are characteristic to the craft of handspinning. The fabric and the dye will change over time - the silk is becoming softer and the dyes lighter.  Please cold wash only with mild detergent and dry in the shade. Do not soak.
