The Companion - Eri Silk Patchwork Blanket #1

We call this patchwork blanket "The Companion": gifted at birth, it begins as a soft place to rest, wrap and play. As the years pass, it becomes a favourite blanket for quiet moments, a comforting layer to curl up beneath, and eventually a textile that finds a lasting place in the home. Rather than being outgrown, it gathers memories with every stage of life. Crafted to endure, Companion is an heirloom not because it is kept aside, but because it is lived with. A textile made to accompany one person through a lifetimeIt is a unique creation of our dyers and weavers in Assam and our tailor Ashiq in Ladakh. Using fabric remnants from our garment production, blanket is beautifully crafted into a new texile, honoring the precious Eri silk. The blanket is stitched in our studio in Ladakh.

• back and inside: 100% kala cotton from Gujarat

• spinning: 2 days
• dyeing: 1 day
• weaving: 2 days 
• stitching: 2 days

Please note: This product is entirely made by hand. Therefore, irregularities in thickness of yarn are characteristic to the craft of handspinning. Each piece is unique and can vary slightly from the product picture. The fabric and the dye will change over time - the silk is becoming softer and the dyes lighter.  Please cold wash only with mild detergent and dry in the shade. Do not soak.
