chollo (Ladakhi) - dice
**Ready to ship**

This carpet is made from hand-spun sheep wool yarn. It is woven in the traditional Changthang style, on a portable backstrap loom characteristic for the nomadic communities. This type of carpet is called "Challi" and traditionally used as an outside blanket to dry barley on. It is a flat weave and approximately 4mm thick.
The design is created in the weft by using a needle to alternately lift the warp threads to make this dice design. Dice play a big role in the life of the Kharnak nomads: dice are thrown to determine the dates of shifting the camp, choosing a village head and of course, also as a game. The carpet consists of 6 panels. After weaving, they are stitched together. The carpet is 120cm x 180cm and is ready to ship.
It is spun and woven by our team of settled nomads close to the city of Leh.
Additional information about the weaving and the tradition here.
Our carpets are made to order so please allow 4-6 weeks for your carpet to be sent to you. The carpet in the picture is 120cm x 180cm so depending on the size you choose, the design will vary slightly due to the number of panels.
