Eri Silk Fabric Jackfruit

€59.00
This is our fabric we use for clothing, home textiles and also scarves. It is hand-spun and hand-woven by our team in Assam. The silk is called eri silk and cultivated by Assamese tribal communities South West of Guwahati. It is a wild silk and the moth leaves a hole in the cocoon as it has to be empty before it can be processed. Therefore, it is also called "non-violent" silk and has a structure which is rather similar to linen. The yarn of this fabric is dyed with local jackfruit tree bark and is a beautiful sunny, warm yellow.

      • 100% eri silk from Assam
      • width of fabric ∼ 115cm
